TK-701 is a hard to find Excelsior Oak Slat Trunk. It has been restored to be as
much like original as possible.
I replaced the old worn out handles and straps with new leather handles and
leather straps that attach at the front. It has a nice original brass lock with a
patent date of Sep 2 '70 (1870) but no key.
The inside has been relined with a civil war era reproduction fabric of a small
blue floral on a cream background. I also built a new tray to go inside for extra
storage.
It has the original leather "Excelsior Patent Trunk " label which is still attached
above the lock. The label is very worn and split but I glued it together in an
attempt to retain it.
This Excelsior Oak Slat Trunk measures 34 1/2" W X 21 1/2" D X 24 1/4" H.
This trunk would make a nice addition to your home and would be a great
heirloom piece to pass on in your family. Great for storage of extra pillows and
blankets or for family treasures.
